Shields are typically custom painted in a variety of styles and designs, ranging from heraldry, mottoes, trompe l’oeil, illuminated battle scenes, knotwork, and other motifs from many cultures and periods.  Some of these are wooden blanks I built, and others were wooden or metal blanks provided by the client.
